Good Fridays and Easter Sundays
These two events fall naturally on a Friday and Sunday respectively. In most cases, as have been for the past many years, Good Friday is a sombre nightfall event where congregants and ministry leaders are attired in non-coloured clothes, preferable greyish or black. The programme for Good Friday changes from year to year but essentially is centred on the crucifixion of Christ.
Good Friday service starts usually at 7:00pm or 8:00pm depending on the year. This should be taken only as a loose guide as it is best to refer to the blog post for the actual time.
Easter Sundays are bright and colourful events. If the precedence is any indication, we can expect this day to be continually a feast as well as we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. Service time is no different from our usual Sunday Service, which is 10:00am.
Christmas Eves and Christmas Days
Both events can fall on different days depending on the year. However, essentially, Christmas Eve is a night event where the start time has varied from 7:00pm to 8:00pm but no later than that. Christmas Days, even when they don't fall on a Sunday, are treated like a Sunday Service, starting at 10:00am.
These are days when congregant families bring their family members, relatives and friends along. Christmas Days are not just about the service itself but there are, invariably, our 'Pot Bless' events where members contribute and bring food to share with everyone.
Each Christmas pairing of the Eve and Day brings along different programmes. While we have had our fair share of quiet examples over the years, we have also been known to produce different works but this will depend on available manpower. It is also possible that we may share the celebration of Christmas with other smaller churches.
Other Events Observed by the Church
At Hosanna, we also observe various other events throughout the year including Mothers' and Fathers' Days, Chinese New Year and our very own Church Anniversary, which falls on the month of November. By observing them, we mean to say that we also celebrate them in church.
For enquiries concerning any such events, please write email to simontham@gmail.com or castanet.xiosnetworks@gmail.com.
