Seeing Miracles

The Testimony of Mrs Lim How Min

Towards the end of the sermon on March 13 2016, Pastor Barnabas asked whether any of us had seen any miracles done to the church. In my heart, I answered yes. Inspired, here are two I’d like to share.
It happened two years ago on January 13 when my husband was returning from a friend’s place when a car knocked him off his motorbike not too far away from  home. He was then dragged along the road for some distance. Seemingly out of nowhere, a good Samaritan called to tell me of my husband’s accident and his present condition. He was apparently on his way to Kuala Lumpur for work.
As I was frantically trying to prepare myself to get to the scene of the accident, I tried to call up some friends to seek their help when suddenly the same good Samaritan called for the second time to ask if I was headed to the site. I explained that I was without transport of my own and was hoping for someone to help to which he not only offered me a lift but used his phone to get me in touch with Pastor Simon. I guess in all the ensuing confusion, I was left in a state of shock and helplessness, not really knowing the most rational thing to do. Thank the Lord that He sent me someone who could see to my needs!
Just as we arrived at the scene of the accident, the ambulance followed suit and together with my injured husband, we made tracks to the Ipoh General Hospital. Having checked in at the hospital and with a body X-ray scan results back, the news was anything but bad. In God’s grace, my husband was certainly spared from the real possibility of sustaining more serious bodily injuries.
In all my fears, broken bones were not unexpected and in all likelihood, worse was not impossible. God spared him with only some nasty-looking but superficial wounds on his back, right leg and right arm. And miraculously, he could walk!
By the time all of this was made known to me, Pastor Simon had arrived at the hospital. There, he prayed for my husband and was at our disposal throughout the time should we need any assistance. He only left once everything was under control. And for all of that, my husband and I remain truly grateful.
Like his first accident on the motorbike, the second one was yet another of God’s miracles to grace my family. Thanks be to the Good Lord for watching over all of us. As He constantly proves, He is a great and loving Father who loves His children with all His heart.
Now wind forward to this year when my husband and I went on a trip to Jogjakarta, Indonesia between May 16 and 20. Shortly after we arrived, my husband became unwell one morning after arising from bed. His whole body was plastered in sweat and by the time he consumed his breakfast, he became weak and looked awful with threats of fainting spells.
I sought the assistance of two hotel hospitality staff who helped him on his feet and made sure he could make his way safely back to our hotel room. After arranging for a doctor to come, he arrived some twenty minutes later and prescribed some meds for my husband with the advice that should his condition not improve, we had to call him by evening time so that he could extract a blood sample and take things from there.
Once I had some quiet time to myself, I thought that with all of this happening, we really didn’t have much time left before we all had to be boarding our flight home. And so with my husband restfully asleep, I prayed.
In my prayer, I said to God, “Lord, if anything were to happen, please do not let it happen here on foreign land.” It is always a frightening experience for any foreigner visiting anywhere for that matter. Where hospitalisation becomes a reality, most of us would be terrified out of our wits. Since this was Jogjakarta and not Ipoh, my alarm sensors were understandably throwing up a lot of red flags!
I asked God to heal my husband and let him recover quickly enough for us to safely return to Malaysia the next morning. I was in awe at how God responded for by the next afternoon, he had begun to feel a quick recovery coming. Despite still feeling a little on the weak side, he was back to his old self.
By the mercy of God, we were all saved from what could have been a nightmare holiday in a foreign hospital. After the miracle, everything seemed to then fall into place. The following morning, we caught up with our friends and together, we made our way to the airport and looked forward to our trip back.
With all of these miracles happening in my life, God leaves me in no doubt as to His faithfulness to those who believe in Him through His Son, Lord Jesus. He can be anywhere anytime and as I’ve discovered, it wouldn’t matter. All we have to do is to seek Him with all our heart, our mind and our spirit. And trust me, He will answer.
Thank You, Lord!
For glory belongs to You. Amen.
